…Queen’s Park has passed new legislation called the Rental Fairness Act, which prevents landlords from unfairly boosting lodgers’ rents.  It expands rent controls to all private rental units, including those occupied after Nov. 1, 1991, which has been exempt in the past.  Landlords can’t raise rents more than set guidelines, which this year is 1.5 per cent.
